New Principal/Teacher: Melissa Baggett has accepted the RKS Board's invitation to become the principal/teacher for the 2019/2020 school year. She is a dedicated professional educator with many years of experience. Melissa has taught at the elementary level for almost 20 years and has also served as teacher/principal for a number of years. We welcome Melissa as a great addition to our staff. Tentative classroom assignments for the 2019/2020 school year have been established but may need to be adjusted depending on overall enrollment and classroom sizes.
Spring Break: Spring Break will begin with a noon dismissal on Friday, March 22. After School Care will run from 12:15-4:30 pm. School will be closed from March 25-29. Enjoy the week off!
Snow Day Makeup: For the month of April we will have an extra hour of school on Fridays. School will dismiss at 3 pm on April 5, 12, 19, and 26. After School Care will begin at 3:15 and close at 4:30 pm.
Parent/Teacher Conferences New Date: Please make note that our Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, April 11, beginning at 1 pm. School will dismiss at noon on this day and After School Care will run from 12:15-5:45 pm. A form will be sent home next week so that you can choose the time slot that you would prefer for the Parent/Teacher Conference.
Fine Arts Fair/Open House Date Change: We have moved our Fine Arts Fair/Open House to Sunday, April 14 at 3 pm. Students will need to be at the school at 1 pm for set up and practice for music performance. Parents will return at 3 pm for the program. We have moved the day to a Sunday to help make up a snow day. This is a required school day. Attendance will be taken.
Preschool for Next Year: Our preschool room is filling up rather quickly for next school year. We anticipate a waiting list by April. If you have not registered your child for next school year, or if you know someone who is planning to, please do so immediately.
Hold Your Seat: It is now time to preregister your child by going into our website and registering for the 2019-2020 school year. A $150 Hold Your Seat fee will be charged and will be reimbursed when you make your first tuition payment for the new year. When you go to re-enroll your child, you will need to click on the parent link on our website (go2rks.com) and create a new username and password. The Hold Your Seat will go up to $175 on February 15. Only $150 will be reimbursed.
Jump Rope for Heart: Thank you for all those who participated in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraising for the American Heart Association. We raised $1,531!Jadalyn Walker came in 1st place by raising $300, Keryn Stenack 2nd place by raising $250, and Kethri Wareham 3rd place by raising $226. Great job girls!Prizes will be given out this Friday morning at the end of our chapel time.
Clubs: Stamp Club for grades 3-6 is Monday, April 1, from 3:15-4:15 pm. Lego Club will meet on Wednesday, April 10 from 3:15-4:00 pm.
Prayer Breakfast Follow-Up: You missed a very educational and enlightening presentation this past Sunday with regards to cyber bullying, human trafficking, and internet concerns for our children. Please take time to look over the attached handouts and a contract you might make with your child about phone usage.
Jamie Jorge Concert: Jamie Jorge is an accomplished violinist who travels around the world doing concerts and sharing his story of God's love. Jamie has agreed to do a benefit concert for our school at the Martinsburg SDA Church. Our students have an amazing opportunity to sing two songs during the concert that will take place on Saturday, May 4, at 11 am. Our students are preparing two songs to sing with the help of our music teacher, Heidi Marte. Please mark your calendars and invite your family, friends, and neighbors to this concert. You will be blessed!
