Dress Down Days: Fridays are Dress Down Days! Students do not have to wear uniforms on Fridays. Please remember to follow dress code guidelines as stated in our handbook.
Prayer Walk: This coming Saturday afternoon, August 26, at 2:30 pm we will have a Prayer Walk/Open House at the school. We will spend about an hour visiting the classrooms and praying for the students and teachers.
Visitors in Classrooms: Over the years we have found that students tend to listen to the teacher and focus better when parents are not in the classroom. We appreciate our volunteers that come to help from time to time, but if you have not been asked by the teacher to stay to help or to come in the classroom early, please wait to come in after dismissal.
Pizza Lunch on Tuesdays: The 8th graders will sell pizza, salad, and juice on Tuesdays. An order form for pizza and/or Subway was sent home today with your child. Please return the order along with payment no later than Monday morning.
Subway Lunch on Thursdays: Subway lunches will be given out on Thursdays for those who turn in the order sheet and payment by Tuesday.
Let’s Move Day: Next Friday, September 1, is our Let’s Move Day at Clearbrook Park in Clearbrook, VA (3300 Martinsburg Pike). Students in grades K-8 are to be dropped off at the park, where students will participate in planned athletic activities promoting fitness. Students will need to be picked up at the park at noon. Home & School will provide a lunch and we will dismiss from the park at noon. Verified Volunteer drivers are needed. Any parent involved with this event needs to be Verified. Any Verified parents who would like to stay and help with our Let’s Move Day would be very appreciated. Preschool students will be having their Let’s Move Day at school. School will also dismiss at noon for the Preschoolers and After School Care forPreschoolers will begin at 12:15 and run until 4:30 pm.
Home & School: Our Home & School Leader, Lindsey Holmes, is looking for helpers for our Let’s Move Day Lunch that will be served to the students, faculty, and parents who participate. Please contact her at email@example.com if you can help or if you would like to be on the Home & School Committee.
Labor Day: We will be closed on Monday, September 4, for Labor Day. Enjoy your three day weekend!
Verified Volunteers: You should have received information on the Verified Volunteers online class. Some questions that you will be asked are what union and conference. We are with Columbia Union in the Chesapeake Conference. A few families have already done the online training and have mentioned that it’s not easy to print the certificate. If you have trouble, Kim can print it for you in the office.
School Pictures: Individual school pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 12. Each student will receive a picture packet that was already paid for through the registration fee. Students may dress up for Picture Day or wear school uniform. If students choose to dress in something other than uniform, they will need to change after pictures are taken. Students should come dressed for their picture since pictures will be taken first thing in the morning. Please remember to follow our dress code. No sleeveless clothing and no jewelry.
Chromebooks for Sale: We have several used Chromebooks for sale. The cost is $100 each. Talk to Ms. Yakush if you are interested in buying one.
August Birthdays: Happy birthday to the following students who have August birthdays!
