Monday/Wednesday Clubs: This year we are offering after-school clubs on both Mondays and Wednesdays. Several clubs will meet more than once each month. Some are free. Some are not. Some are required in conjunction with Student Council and the Christmas program. We hope your children will participate and enjoy. Clubs will begin Wednesday, September 7. Sign-ups and descriptions soon-to-follow.
Uniform Clothing: We have a few tables of lightly used and some new clothing for students in our hallway. You are welcome to stop by anytime to look for your child's sizes. We will leave them up another week and then put them out again later in the school year.
Let's Move Day: Our annual Let's Move Day will take place at the Greenbrier State Park in Boonsboro, MD on Friday, September 16. Students in grades K-8 will be transported from RKS to the park at 8:00 am and parents are encouraged to help drive students and to stay to help with the physical activities at the park. School will dismiss at noon after being served a lunch by our Home & School Committee. There will be no charge to get in the park, you will just need to tell the parking attendant that you are with Rocky Knoll School. Preschool students will have a “Let's Move Day” at Rocky Knoll School and will need to bring a sack lunch. At 12:15 After School Care will begin and run until 5:45 pm.
Adventurer Club: Adventurer Club (a scouting type of club for grades K-4) at the Martinsburg Adventist Church is signing up new member now! Adventurers will be meeting about twice a month on Thursday nights from 6:00-8:00 pm. The first meeting is tentatively scheduled for September 8. Dress Down Days: Fridays are typically Dress Down Days. Your child does not need to wear a uniform on Fridays. Please remember to have your child follow the dress code guidelines as posted in the school handbook.
Math Class Volunteer: Mrs. Bankes is looking for volunteers to help during her math class from 8:45-9:45 am. She needs someone to fill Wednesdays. Please contact Kim Harris at 304-263-9894 if you can help.
After School Recreation for Grades 4-8: Mr. McMullen, our new 5th & 6th grade teacher, is going to do After School Rec on Thursdays starting today with kickball, from 3:15 – 4:30 pm. Next Thursday the team sport will be volleyball. Kids who stay have to play, or go to After School Care. Students not picked up promptly at 4:30 pm will be sent to After School Care.
Picture Day: School pictures will be taken on Wednesday, August 31 beginning at 8:15 am. All students will be photographed and will receive a picture packet that is covered through the tuition fees. You can order more pictures than the packet you are given by going to our website and clicking on the school pictures link. This link will only be available till midnight, Aug. 31.
Pizza and Subway: Your child should have received an order form today for Pizza and Subway. Please return the order form and payment to classroom teacher by Monday. Any late orders will not be filled.
Desks and Chairs: We have several student desks and chairs in the gym that we are selling for $3.00 a piece. You are welcome to come by anytime to purchase them.
