Welcome: We are so happy that you are part of our school family! We look forward to making many happy memories with you throughout the school year.
Newsletter: A general weekly newsletter like this one will typically go home on Thursdays this school year. You will get other correspondence from your child's teacher throughout the week.
Prayer Walk/Open House: This Saturday at 2 pm we will have our annual Prayer Walk/Open House. Anyone who would like to come to pray for our students, their families, and the staff are most welcome.
Dress Down Days: Fridays are typically Dress Down Days. Your child does not need to wear a uniform on Fridays. Please remember to have your child follow the dress code guidelines as posted in the school handbook.
Math Class Volunteer: Mrs. Bankes is looking for volunteers to help during her math class from 8:45-9:45 am. She needs someone to fill Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please contact Kim Harris at 304-263-9894 if you can help.
After School Recreation for Grades 4-8: Mr. McMullen, our new 5th & 6th grade teacher, is going to do After School Rec on Thursdays starting next week, from 3:15 – 4:30 pm. Next Thursday the team sport will be kickball. Kids who stay have to play, or go to After School Care. Students not picked up promptly at 4:30 pm will be sent to After School Care.
Picture Day: School pictures will be taken on Wednesday, August 31 beginning at 8:15 am. All students will be photographed and will receive a picture packet that is covered through the tuition fees. You can order more pictures than the packet you are given, but you will be responsible for payment.
Pizza and Subway: Your child should have received an order form today for Pizza and Subway. Starting next week these two meals will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please turn in the order form and payment by Monday. Any late orders will not be filled.
Desks and Chairs: We have several student desks and chairs in the gym that we are selling for $3.00 a piece. You are welcome to come by anytime to purchase them.
Did You Know: Did you know the weight of the brain? It weighs less than 2 percent of the body weight. Surprisingly, it consumes 30 percent of the oxygen we breathe and around 20 percent of the blood supplied in our body. Lack of energy reduces your brain function as it reduces oxygen supply to brain. Deep breathing for a couple of minutes improves oxygen and blood supply to brain.
Quote for the Week: Keep on beginning and failing. Each time you fail, start all over again, and you will grow stronger until you have accomplished a purpose – not the one you began with perhaps, but one you’ll be glad to remember. -Anne Sullivan
