Let's Move Day: Our annual Let's Move Day will take place tomorrow at the Greenbrier State Park at 21843 National Pike, Boonsboro, MD. Students in grades K-8 will be transported from RKS to the park at 8:00 am and parents are encouraged to help drive students and to stay to help with the physical activities at the park. If you are not able to go to the park, your child will be transported to the park and back to the school. School will dismiss at noon from the park after being served a lunch by our Home & School Committee. Pick up time at RKS is no later than 1 pm. There will be no charge to get in the park, you will just need to tell the parking attendant that you are with Rocky Knoll School. If the weather permits, students will be allowed to swim in the designated swimming area. A lifeguard will be present. Students should bring a modest one piece bathing suit and a towel, if planning to swim. Preschool students will have a “Let's Move Day” at Rocky Knoll School and will need to bring a sack lunch. At 12:15 After School Care will begin for Preschool (1:00 for students returning to campus) and run until 4:30 pm.
ITBS Testing: Next week students in grades 1-8 will be taking the ITBS tests in the morning. Please make sure your child gets a good night's rest and eats a healthy breakfast each day.
RenWeb: Parents can check their child's grades (grades 1-8) and attendance on the RenWeb website. Go to renweb.com and choose the log in button at the top and the parent log in option. You will be prompted to put in our district code which is CC-SDA. Next you will put in your email address that you have given us and then you will create a password.
Volunteer Needed: We are in need of some volunteers to help with some easy projects at the school. 1. We need to have our roses by the gym sidewalk cut back.
Our ornamental grasses near the main door need to be cut lower than the metal box that they are next to.
Some maintenance jobs in the building.
If you can help with any of these job, please let Kim Harris know.
After School Recreation for Grades 4-8 from 3:15-4:30 pm: Next Thursday the team sport will be Softball. Kids who stay have to play, or go to After School Care. Students not picked up promptly at 4:30 pm will be sent to After School Care.
Did You Know: Children aged five to 12 need 10-11 hours of sleep. At the same time, there is an increasing demand on their time from school (e.g., homework), sports and other extracurricular and social activities. In addition, school aged children become more interested in TV, computers, the media and Internet as well as caffeine products – all of which can lead to difficulty falling asleep, nightmares and disruptions to their sleep. In particular, watching TV close to bedtime has been associated with bedtime resistance, difficulty falling asleep, anxiety around sleep and sleeping fewer hours.
